These upcoming My Chemical Romance shows might also be postponed—UPDATE

There might be some more bad news on the horizon for My Chemical Romance fans. While it’s not official, the chairman of the MK Dons Football Club believes the My Chemical Romance Milton Keynes shows will be rescheduled.

Earlier this month, it was reported that My Chemical Romance’s show in Cornwall, UK for the Eden Sessions is postponed. The June 16 gig was set to take place just two days before MCR’s three-night Milton Keynes extravaganza.

The wait just keeps getting longer until we get to see My Chemical Romance again. Their most recent gig was the first of their return, way back on Dec. 20 at the Shrine in Los Angeles.

We were supposed to see them again for five shows in March. Two of them in Australia, two in Japan and one in New Zealand. Unfortunately, all of those were canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Then, the Eden Project canceled all of their summer Eden Session concerts until 2021 because of coronavirus.

My Chemical Romance announced their first Milton Keynes show back in January with the beautiful teaser known as “An Offering…” After an immediate sellout, the subsequently announced two additional dates.

Andrew Cullen, the executive director of MK Dons FC spoke with the MK Citizen just two weeks ago and said that he believed the three sold-out MK shows would go on as planned

“As things stand, those concerts are still taking place in June,” Cullen said. “We’re waiting, as are the concert promoters, about mass gatherings from the government as to whether those concerts can take place.

“We’re in regular contact with the promoters, and we are looking at contingencies if they cannot go ahead because of government guidance. At the moment, they are still taking place.”

Now, the MK Dons FC Chairman, Pete Winkelman is assuming something else. Speaking with the MK CitizenWinkelmann believes it’s unlikely the shows will take place as planned, but, the decision is entirely up to My Chemical Romance and the promoters.

“It looks increasingly unlikely to be in June because of the lockdown,” Winkelmann says. “But there is nothing I can really say about it because it’s a decision to be made by the band and the promoters. We are talking with them all the time, and I’m comfortable that whatever happens, they will be playing in Milton Keynes. Let’s see what happens.

“It’s a massive thing for us, and it has been so exciting to have a band that can sell out three nights at Stadium MK. We’re bending over backwards it can continue to happen in some way.”
