My Chemical Romance confirm postponed Japan shows for public safety—UPDATE

My Chemical Romance fans in Japan are reportedly not getting to see the band as soon as they expected as the band are postponing their Download Festival appearance as well as their other shows.

Now, the band are allegedly working on rescheduling the shows. According to the alleged statement, tickets holders will be able to attend the dates the band are rescheduling with the original tickets.

As of two days ago, the event was still set to go despite concerns regarding coronavirus. Numerous other bands and events are being cancelled in countries across Asia as well as all across the globe due to the virus.

A statement is circulating saying they will be rescheduling all three of their shows. The band, festival and venue have not yet confirmed the events to be postponed. The Download Festival-presented Osaka show was set for March 28 with Jimmy Eat World as support with both bands heading to the main fest in Tokyo on the 29th.

Luckily, according to the statement refunds will be available once dates are rescheduled with further details to come. People with travel plans should be able to recoup some of their expenses. You can see that below.

“We regret to announce that Download Japan 2020 and My Chemical Romance show in Osaka will be postponed.

Currently, we are working on rescheduling the dates for each event. Purchased tickets for the original dates will be valid for the rescheduled dates. For those customers who wish to receive a refund, we will announce details of the refund process once we announce the rescheduled dates.”

According to another Twitter user though, they’re receiving a followup email after this one saying there was an error in the information.

According to that email, they ended up sending the follow-up email with an undisclosed error.

We’ll keep readers posted when the band, festival or venues make official statements.

UPDATE: MARCH 12, 2020, 12:11 A.M. ET

Following the alleged statement surfacing, My Chemical Romance have released an official statement of their own confirming the postponement.

The promoter of our Japan shows suggested that we postpone the shows in Japan for the safety of the public, and we are heeding that advice. We had very much hoped to have alternate dates confirmed before we announced the postponement, to make sure our fans knew we had every intention of coming back. Somehow, word got out before we could do that.

However, please know we are working on rescheduling shows and will try to announce those soon. We are terribly sad to postpone, and even more distressed about what is happening the world over. Take good care and we hope to see you all as soon as possible. Please be good to each other. My Chemical Romance.
