My Chemical Romance UK ticket resales being invalidated by some sites

After My Chemical Romance posted a second show following a quick sellout of their first announced UK show, fans have noticed that tickets bought from Gigs and Tours being resold outside of Twickets will be rendered invalid.

If you weren’t lucky enough to snag a ticket on the first go and are willing to pay the costly resale ticket prices, be extra cautious of where they were originally purchased as some ticket resales will be invalid if not done through the proper channels.

Tickets for the show sold out almost immediately. They were sold through a few different sites, notably Ticketmaster and Gigs and Tours.

Fans have been trying to spread the word about the invalidation which you can see below.

A key thing to mention though is that there are multiple sites to buy resale tickets through. People are able to resell their tickets however they want typically, but many companies have their own connections with resale sites and want to get as much back as possible from ticket sales. Some ticket sites also simply prefer to sell through a specific reselling site over their policies regarding prices.

Gigs and Tours say tickets purchased through their site being resold through any place other than Twickets will be invalid.

“Please note: any ticket bought from Gigs & Tours that is no longer required can only be resold through Twickets. Reselling through any other channel will render the ticket(s) invalid,” the site says.

If it’s a ticket purchased through Ticketmaster and being resold through Ticketmaster though, this rule wouldn’t apply.

With both Viagogo and StubHub listings in question, a spokesperson from Viagogo has since released a statement on the situation.

“Arbitrarily canceling a valid ticket, just because of where it was purchased, is both anti-competitive and unfair to fans,” the spokesperson says. “Viagogo is a ticket marketplace designed to connect ticket sellers and other fans looking for tickets. We believe consumers have the right to choose both where to buy their ticket and what to do with it.”

So, if you’re going to drop hundreds or even thousands of dollars on a resale ticket make sure to be extra cautious of all of the details of where it came from.
