If you’ve wanted to be in a Neck Deep music video, here’s your chance

Have you ever wanted to be in a Neck Deep video? Well now is your chance because they need your help. Last month, Neck Deep announced their new album All Distortions Are Intentional with the incredible promotional journey that was Sonderland. After that, they dropped their first single “Lowlife.”

Now, they want you, that’s right, you to appear in the music video for their second single “When You Know.” Get the details below.

The video shows Ben Barlow, rocking a sweet cowboy hat. He’s holding up and dropping a series of signs that deliver the message. Read the full message below.

“Hello Lowlives, due to the impact of coronavirus, we were unable to shoot a music video for our second single ‘When You Know. So we need you! To make this possible what we need is…1) to film a 10-15 second video of yourself holding up a lyric of your choice from “When You Know.” Kinda like I’m doing now.

“The video must be indoors (obv.), be well lit, solid background, any color, just no posters, shelves etc, landscape orientation shot on a smartphone, waist/chest up. Have fun with it! Be as creative as you can!! Get involved, and give yourself something to do! You could be in an ND video. We can’t wait to see your submissions and for you to hear this track! Stay safe, stay inside, be good to one other. Much love, Neck Deep.”

The deadline for submissions is April 3, and you can check out the lyrics below along with Barlow’s video.

Neck Deep “When You Know” lyrics

Sunshine, we don’t belong here
We got no flowers to grow
But it feels so good with you on me, baby
Yeah, it feels so good when you know
When you know

Make peace with your demons and hope that they leave you alone
Make peace with your feelings
Admit there’s a reason you’re not letting go
We could fall right into nothing,
Open arms like we’re infinite
You’ve got nothing left to lose
When you’ve been crying all night

Sunshine, we don’t belong here
We got no flowers to grow
But it feels so good
with you on me, baby
Yeah, it feels so good when you know
When you know

Break free
Oh no, not literally
Cuz you’ve got work at eight
And I’ve got friends who hate me
No, break free from all that makes you weak
And in that moment stay for forever and a day
Or three months in, I’m thinking about more than just the next week
Baby, you feeling me?

And when you know
You wanna bottle the feeling
Never let go
God, I hate when you’re leaving
It just feels so good when you want me baby
I’ll go where you go
Wherever you go

More Neck Deep

Coronavirus is affecting every facet of, not just the music industry, but every industry. No tours, no concerts, no sports. At least Neck Depp is making the most of it. They’re giving us something to do and a very special opportunity to be immortalized in one of their music videos.

Neck Deep certainly aren’t the first to ask for fan help when making a video, New Found Glory recently invited die-hard fans to help them make a video. The 1975 also had a fan call for help with a music video.

We still don’t know when the new single will be released but we’re sure it’ll be a hit.

If you haven’t yet heard of the new Neck Deep record well you’re in for a treat.

According to a statement from the band, the new record tells the story of a loner named Jett, who lives in a place dubbed Sonderland. Sonderland is a combination of “Wonderland” and the somewhat obscure word “sonder” – meaning the realization of random people living a life as complex as your own with their own ambitions.

“It’s that strange existential realization that you are not the entire world,” singer Ben Barlow explains. “Everyone around you feels and lives the same way that you do. You’re just an extra in their story.”

The idea of Sonderland is kicked off with their release of their new song, “Lowlife,” along with an accompanying music video.

The video was created by LA-based visual production company YHELLOW who previously made the vibrant video for PVRIS’ “Hallucinations.” Their crew flew over to the U.K. to meet up with the band for filming while the video itself is based on ideas from Barlow himself.

Its story opens the world of protagonist Jett as well as his love Alice. Although told through the lens of the characters, All Distortions Are Intentional is still reflective of the individual members’ lives.

“Writing ‘Lowlife’, it was like I was tapping into this part of my own personality, my own psyche,” Barlow says.

You can check out the video below.

The new record is produced by Matt Squire (Panic! At The Disco, Ariana Grande, One Direction) and was recorded in Wales at the legendary Monnow Valley Studio. Mixing for the album was handled by Seb Barlow. The new album arrives July 24 via Hopeless Records and can be pre-ordered here.
