Neck Deep guitarist’s football team wins cup final

Neck Deep may have just announced they’re heading on the road with blink-182 and Lil Wayne, but apparently that doesn’t mean they don’t have time to do other things, like win football matches.

Sam Bowden, the guitarist of the band, plays for Lincolnshire’s Anglers FC Saxilby in the U.K. when he isn’t doing music. The team just celebrated winning the Kelly Read Trophy.

The team beat out FVA Jerusalem FC 6 to 4, according to a match report.

Sam, who plays on the team alongside his brother Joshua Bowden, was part of the time that won the big match.

Bowden joined Neck Deep back in 2015.

More Neck Deep news

As previously stated, the band is headed on the gigantic tour with blink and Lil Wayne, and they couldn’t be more excited. However, it won’t be the first time they’ve shared the stage with blink-182.

The band have expressed their love for blink time and time again, citing them as one of their biggest musical inspirations. Forming in 2012, it only took two years for Neck Deep to share a stage with their heroes, opening for blink in 2014 at O2 Academy Brixton as well as Leeds Festival a few weeks later.

Blink played the London show on the road to Reading & Leeds, and you can check out a poster for the show below.

At that point in their career, Neck Deep only had a handful of EPs and one full-length, Wishful Thinking, to fulfill a setlist. You can check out them performing “Kick It” and “What Did You Expect?” below.

Now Neck Deep will have the chance to hop on a full tour with one of the reasons the “band even exists.” They’ve never been quiet about their fandom, but the sentiment of going coast to coast with one of their biggest influences hasn’t been lost on the band members.

Neck Deep are living the dream, and we’re here for it. Tickets for the tour go on sale May 10 here, with a full list of dates below.
