What many see as the start of the Grudge films was actually somewhere in the middle. Ju-On: The Grudge was a Japanese film released in 2002 that went on to inspire the American remake The Grudge in 2004.

However, the Ju-On franchise actually had three other straight to videos films before the 2002 movie. Now whether or not those are the source for the brand new television adaptation is unknown. All we know is that we’re excited.

The latest incarnation of Ju-On franchise was this year’s The Grudge. Unfortunately, the film fell relatively flat with its audience garnering only a 20% on Rotten Tomatoes and a 4.2 on IMDb.
