Netflix’s ‘The Umbrella Academy’ officially wraps filming of season 3

Fans of the beloved Netflix original series The Umbrella Academy will be happy to learn that the series has officially wrapped on filming season 3. 

Renewed by Netflix last year, the cast of The Umbrella Academy has been in production since the beginning of the year. If the latest news is any indication, both the cast and fans are eager for the premiere of season 3.

Showrunner Steve Blackman took to his Instagram to post a video of the cast expressing their excitement for the upcoming season.

The clip opens with Elliot Page, who plays Vanya Hargreeves (Number Seven), giving a bittersweet farewell to production, saying, “I’m stoked ‘cause I can’t wait for you to see it and sad because I’ll miss everybody.”

Emmy Raver-Lampman, who plays Allison Hargreeves (Number Three), also emphasized in the Instagram announcement, saying “I don’t think the world’s ready for this. I think it’s our best season yet.”

Production of the third season began in February of this year in Toronto. However, there has since been a handful of details revealed throughout the year. In January, we were introduced to The Sparrow Academy and the actors who would be playing roles, including an “existential dread-inducing psykronium” cube called Christopher.

Meanwhile, the original cast will reprise their roles alongside the new members of The Sparrow Academy.

In June, during Netlfix’s Geeked Week, Blackman also provided fans with another treat: the episode titles for season 3.

Although the titles of the episodes don’t reveal too much about the plot, some of them do raise some eyebrows. The first episode, titled “Meet The Family,” assumingly looks to give audiences an insight into The Sparrow Academy.

With filming and production officially wrapped, fans can expect to have the esteemed superhero series grace their screens yet again sometime in the near future. 

As of right now, The Umbrella Academy season 3 doesn’t have an official release date. The first two seasons are available to watch on Netflix.
