The 'Tiger King' reunion special roasts Mötley Crüe and it's not pretty

Netflix‘s Tiger King: Murder, Mayhem And Madness has swept the globe. The misadventures of Joe Exotic, Carole Baskin and the rest of the gang have captivated even the idlest of observers.

While most of the news is centered around Exotic in one way or another, the newest bit of outlandish comedy comes from a minor character from the program and his hatred for Mötley Crüe

Tiger King dropped back in March and immediately started a groundswell of obsession that has caused it to break records as Netflix’s top show.

Joseph Allen Maldonado-Passage (Joe Exotic) is an incarcerated former zoo operator and self-professed most prolific tiger breeder in the U.S.

He ran an exotic animal park in Oklahoma and twice unsuccessfully ran for public office in 2016 and 2018. The documentary series focuses on the feud between Joe and animal rights activist Carole Baskin. It also involves a lot of issues relating to a murder for hire plot as well as the disappearance of Baskin’s husband who went missing in 1997.

Big cats, drug abuse, murder for hire plots, arson, fake music careers and a number of other oddities keep you glued to the screen. The seven-episode series left fans wanting more.

It was announced last week that an eighth episode would be arriving but the details were scarce. On April 9, it was revealed that Joel McHale would be hosting the episode. The reunion of sorts sees McHale interviewing all of the important players. The episode is called “The Tiger King And I.”

McHale interviews Jeff Lowe, Saff, Rick Kirkham, Joshua Dial and a number of others. But, perhaps the greatest interview was with Erik Cowie, the head zookeeper of Joe Exotic’s zoo. Cowie quickly became a fan-favorite on Tiger King for his laid-back attitude, devotion to cats and wry sense of humor. Well, that continued with McHale over the weekend.

In a brief yet powerful roast, McHale and Cowie hate on Mötley Crüe, and more specifically the lead singer Vince Neil

This is a very serious question, Eric,” McHale starts. “You’re being compared to Vince Neil. Are you flattered by that?”

Without skipping a beat, Cowie responded whole-heartedly.

“Oh god, I fucking hate Motley Crue. They’ve never been my thing, no. It was too plastic, man. I’m sorry.”

McHale, being the provocateur he is, then targetted Neil directly.

“Well obviously, you’ve also got a much lower body fat percentage than Vince Neil does right now. Vince probably will come after me. It’ll be a slow walk to come get me.”

McHale also asked Cowie if Joe Exotic should be released from prison. Well, he  let his feelings be heard exactly as intended with that subject.

“No. Not no, but fuck no,” Cowie said. “Twenty-two years doing federal time — that guy’s gonna die in there. So, good riddance.”

If you haven’t yet watched Tiger King, you’re in for a wild ride. The show has already inspired everything from blink-182 memes and Marilyn Manson DMs, to Trivium and other metal covers of Joe Exotic’s hit songs.
