Netflix announces star for 'Carmen Sandiego' live-action feature film

Netflix has officially acquired the rights to a live-action Carmen Sandiego feature flick, and they've found their Carmen, too.

Jane The Virgin star Gina Rodriguez will take on the role of Carmen Sandiego, and we couldn't imagine a better fit.

The flick is set to be standalone film produced by Rodriguez's own I Can and I Will productions, but there hasn't been a writer or director attached to the movie at this point.

Of course, this is an extension of the Carmen Sandiego brand on the streaming service. Last year, Netflix announced that it'd be creating a Carmen Sandiego animated series, due out in 2019, with Rodriguez voicing the title character.

Carmen Sandiego is all about the “globe-trotting thief that is the nemesis of the ACME detection agency.”
