New Years Day drop mysterious teaser hinting at more new music

After the release of “Skeletons,” their first single in a few years last year, fans have been anxiously waiting for more music from New Years Day. Now, it looks like they won’t be held in suspense for much longer.

The group’s last full-length album, Malevolence, was released in 2015. Last November, they released their first single since the band’s last LP with “Skeletons.” The track was a different take on what their audience had come to expect from them.

“I love heavy riffs. I love headbanging. I love jumping,” lead vocalist Ash Costello says about the latest song. “I love heavy riffage, but I just felt like what New Years Day never had was [a] sing-along, fun chorus with a cool tag.”

That theme looks like it’ll continue after the band released a couple of teasers on social media.

Costello posted a clip yesterday on her personal Instagram with the caption “⛓3️⃣⛓ after all we’ve been thru…New music is coming.”

The band also posted the same video and caption on their Instagram and tweeted earlier today that we should be on the lookout for new music soon, posting “Nothing could stop us…New music is coming,” along with a snippet of what we assume will be the new release.

The number shown changed from two to three, so it seems like it could be a countdown of sorts.

The clips sound unlike what you might’ve heard from NYD, but that doesn’t mean they’ll be changing their sound completely. In response to a comment asking if the new music would be pop, the band replied with “wait and see. This record is a mix of catchy vocals and the most butthole-melting, ugly riffs you’ve ever heard from us.”

The band will hit the road in April with Ice Nine Kills and From Ashes To New as support on Falling In Reverse’s headliner. Check out the dates below with tickets available here.
