New Years Day go psycho in thriller-inspired “Shut Up” video

New Years Day have just unveiled a gory new music video for their single, “Shut Up.” The video itself takes on the classic film, American Psycho, making it perfect for metal and film aficionados everywhere.

According to Blabbermouth, the music video actually features the original ax used in the film and and stars Sirius XM’s Jose Mangin.

Additionally, frontwoman Ash Costello shares that she had a vision for the music video all along.

“When we recorded the song ‘Shut Up’ I knew right then and there, on that day, straight away, what I wanted to do if we were ever to make a music video for it,” Costello says.“It came to me immediately. So when the time came and ‘Shut Up’ was chosen for a music video, I was thrilled because it meant that I’d get to make my vision come to life, which was to recreate one of my favorite horror movies of all time, ‘American Psycho.’”

The band originally unveiled the empowering anthem back in March as part of their latest record Unbreakable, which you can pick up here.

“‘Shut Up’ was written in a day, which just doesn’t happen,” Costello says in a story with Blabbermouth. “I was going through some heavy personal stuff, and I was just, ‘Don’t tell me what I want. Shut up and give it to me.’”

You can watch the band’s brand-new music video below.

The band are currently on tour with Ice Nine Kills and From Ashes To New as support on Falling In Reverse’s headliner. Following that, the band will embark on their first-ever headlining tour. Check out the dates below with tickets available here.
