Asking Alexandria's Ben Bruce confirms new record is already written

Good news, Asking Alexandria fans: Finland's Kaaos TV sat down with Ben Bruce to talk more about Danny Worsnop’s return to the band and, even more excitingly, the band’s new record.

“The whole album's written and is ready to be recorded properly,” Bruce says. “And then we have some huge touring opportunities in the works that we are working on right now, so it's going to be exciting.”

Reflecting on Danny Worsnop's return to the band, Bruce explains that the transition just seemed natural—he was part of the original band, and they’ve been through so much together, so it was an obvious choice to ask him to be a part of the band upon Denis Stoff's exit.

“We were continuing on as Asking Alexandria with Denis [Stoff] to keep the band going, and we had a great time. We wrote and recorded a great record together, and I have no regrets at all,” Bruce says.

“But Danny is part of our family. He started the band with me and the other guys; we're the five original members. We went through a tough time, obviously, like a lot of relationships do. But I did say to Danny the day he called me and left the band the first time, I said, 'There'll always be a place for you in Asking Alexandria,' because he started the band with us. And people forget everything that we went through together to get to where we are. Everything happens for a reason… None of us could be any happier than we are now.”

As soon as Stoff was out of the band, Bruce’s first thought was to ask Worsnop to re-claim his place, and he agreed.

“So when the situation arose that Denis no longer wanted to be in Asking Alexandria, he just kind of disappeared. I was, like, well, let's see if Danny would be interested again,” Bruce says. “We buried the hatchet, and it was like everything was great… And I think he was excited by the idea too. Like I said, everything happens for a reason.”

Looking ahead, Bruce didn't give too much away regarding their new record. However, he did explain that this record was namely worked on in the studio, and with a new record in the works, we can only hope for a tour soon.

“We're holding our cards close to our chest right now,” Bruce says. “We're not gonna give too much away. Obviously, that was music that we had written. Whether it makes the album or not, we'll see.”

“We used to write on the road,” Bruce explains. “But this album, though, I actually went into a studio. I spent months in the studio with [producer] Matt Good and wrote the album. I was, like, 'This has to be better than anything we've ever, ever written.' So I spent months locked away in the studio, all night, all day. I used to go into the studio at lunchtime and not get home until lunchtime the next day. And my baby would already be awake, and I'd be, like, 'Damn, I need to go to bed for a bit.' For months, I was on that brutal schedule. But it's been worth it.”

Worsnop marked his return to Asking Alexandria last October, and he released what appears to be a new song back in January. Asking Alexandria drummer James Cassells appeared to have confirmed that new music with Worsnop is actually coming, too.

“The next year, though, is going to be a busy year for us—not so much in the forefront, like playing shows etc., but for us as creative and musicians, we're going to be in the studio, we're going to be in the practice space, we're going to be working,” Cassells said. “There's going to be a lot of work going on.”
