Nine Inch Nails’ new merch jabs at the time Ted Cruz asked for guest list
Yesterday, Nine Inch Nails revealed a string of tour dates that won’t be happening over the coronavirus pandemic but their tour merch is on sale anyway and one particular item is bringing back their past beef with Ted Cruz.
They’re selling merch printed for the tour with process going towards local food banks but a tote bag on the site is taking a dig at Ted Cruz related to a 2018 incident between the politician and the band.

To backtrack, in 2018 Trent Reznor said during a concert in at the Pavilion in Irving, Texas that Ted Cruz was asking to be added to their guest list. He asked the crowd during the show to “raise your hand, you guys, nothing to be ashamed of, just checkin’.”
He then said “he might be here tonight” before revealing he told the Republican to “fuck off” when asked about guest list.
“We put him on [the guest list] a few years ago; he drank all the beer, and was just a pain in the a– to be around,” he continued.
Cruz denied Reznor’s comments in a tweet where he called it #FakeNews.
To all the gullible reporters who are “reporting” that I asked to be on the guest list at a Nine Inch Nails concert: uh, no, NIN is not my music taste. He was clearly joking. And for the record, I also didn’t “drink all his beer” the last time…but I would have! #FakeNews https://t.co/ZNr292SCVl

Now, Nine Inch Nails are going back to the hilarious comments about Ted Cruz drinking all of their beer with the description for their new tote bag.
“From the 2020 Cold and Black and Infinite tour that never happened. Commemorate the memories you’ll never forget. Every song we’ve ever written played every night. Tapeworm debut / reunion. Complimentary mango La Croix for everyone. Ted Cruz puking by the bus,” the description reads.

Going a step further, their wall flag for the tour takes another political jab without naming any names.
“Since reality and truth are now malleable and subjective, perhaps this tour really did happen and it was awesome. Every single comment on the internet about it was positive,” it reads.
As we reported yesterday, they revealed tour dates for several cities that weren’t announced due to the pandemic.
