Of Mice & Men's Austin Carlile shares honest message on health: "I'll never be better"

Earlier this week, it was announced Of Mice & Men would not be able to go out on their upcoming tour with A Day To Remember due to frontman Austin Carlile's ongoing recovery. This news came after Carlile's month-long hospital stay, which began when the band were forced to cancel a European tour, so the singer could focus on his health.

Carlile suffers from a disorder called Marfan Syndrome, a diagnosis he shared an honest—but heartbreaking—message about via Twitter.

In response to fans telling him to “hurry up and get better,” Carlile says, “I'll never be better.”

“You happy? I live EACH DAY as it comes,” he continues. “Each day is a battle. Marfan Syndrome is a fibrostic connective tissue disorder, that means it affects your ENTIRE BODY, and IT. IS. PAINFUL.”

Pinned to the top of his Twitter, Carlile expressed his sadness in canceling that European tour. “It breaks my heart, but the band and myself have decided it was unsafe for me to continue on in this state of health,” he writes.

Carlile has been open about his recent recovery process on Twitter, informing fans of the multiple surgeries he's endured and when his month-long hospital stay finally came to an end.

Of Mice & Men released their most recent album, Cold World, on Sept. 9 via Rise Records.
