Oli Sykes details 'amo,' says it will take a "few listens"
We’re just weeks away from the release of Bring Me The Horizon‘s new album, amo, and ahead of its release, the band has done a series of interviews detailing what we can expect.
In this latest round of news, the band’s vocalist Oli Sykes has teased that fans are going to have to give the record a few spins before really absorbing everything that’s going on.

In a new interview with Kerrang, Sykes explained that this new record has a lot of “experimentation,” and that it’ll take a few listens to fully grasp the album’s vibe:
“I know some people didn’t like That’s The Spirit… and there’s a lot of poppier stuff on this album, too, but there’s also a lot of experimentation and vibe and atmosphere, which has a darker tone in places,” Sykes told Kerrang.
He then continued on by saying:
“For me it’s heavier and, not raw, but things hit you and make you feel a lot weirder than That’s The Spirit did,” Sykes said. “As a fan I’d be excited about this album. It’s definitely gonna take a few listens, not because you won’t like it at first, but because the songs have got so much going on. They’re a lot deeper than anything we’ve ever written before.”
The comment from Sykes seemingly echoes what he’s shared about the forthcoming release in the past.
When the band first dropped their track “Mantra,” Sykes teased that the cord is their way of making an album that’s “heavy” and “catchy” in a new way.
If that wasn’t enough to make you excited, the frontman also shared that the new release is something that “doesn’t sound like what we’ve done before.”
And different from old BMTH it is.
Yesterday, after a week’s worth of teasing, the band dropped a freaky new music video for their song “Medicine.”
The band already released “MANTRA” and “Wonderful Life” from amo over the past few months, which makes this latest single the third new track the band has shared since announcing the album.
amo drops Jan. 25 and is available for preorder now.
In addition to releasing the new album, the band are also taking the record our on the road, where they’ll be headlining their U.S. run of their First Love World Tour.
Thrice and Fever 333 are on as support, and tickets are available now.
