Oli Sykes says rock isn't dead after all in moving festival speech

Bring Me The Horizon played their hugest set to date yesterday at All Points East and apparently it’s changed Oli Sykes‘ view of rock music.

Sykes previously said rock music “hasn’t produced a legend in decades, and every other genre has,” but the band’s massive performance has shifted his perspective.

The vocalist delivered an emotional speech before performing an acoustic rendition of “Sleepwalking” where he proclaimed “rock is alive.”

“A few months ago I said rock was a load of shite. This festival has shown me I was wrong. I don’t know what I was fucking talking about. Rock is alive,” says Sykes.

The band’s performance was a 20-song extravaganza that brought together material from all six of their albums. It also featured a number of guest appearances including Dani FilthArchitects vocalist Sam Carter and Lotus Eater frontman Jamie McLees.

The setlist was put together with the help of fans as Sykes took to Twitter earlier this month to poll people on their song picks.
