‘Once Upon A Deadpool’ PG-13 re-release promises brand new footage

In a new promo for Once Upon a Deadpool, actor Julian Dennison reveals that the PG-13 Deadpool 2 re-release will feature 20 minutes of brand-new footage!

In the Firefist actor‘s “special Christmas story,” he speaks about the benefits of releasing the edited film so teens, like himself, can see the movie in the theater (and not forced to wait to watch it on DVD, “like a loser”).

According to Movieweb, the film’s new footage was shot “very quickly, guerilla style.” Dennison’s reading of a Deadpool book echos some of the new footage from the film’s first trailer, where Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool reads to Fred Savage.

Most of the new footage appears to come from Deadpool retelling the story of Deadpool 2 to Fred Savage’s The Princess Bride character. Just like in The Princess Bride, the grandfather brushed all of the terrifying scenes under the rug when retelling the story to his grandson.

After getting kidnapped by the Merc with a Mouth, Savage is even placed in a recreation of his character’s bedroom from The Princess Bridewhich is pretty spot on.

“Fox has been asking for a PG-13 basically since the start in 2006,” Reynolds told Deadline. “I’ve said no since 2006. Now, this one time, I said ‘Yes’ on two conditions. First, a portion of the proceeds had to go to charity. Second, I wanted to kidnap Fred Savage. The second condition took some explaining…”

The limited Once Upon A Deadpool run begins Dec. 12 and ends on Christmas Eve, with $1 for every ticket sold going to Fuck Cancer (who is sanitizing their name to ‘Fudge Cancer’ for the release).
