As the end of Netflix‘s series Orange Is The New Black has arrived, the writer of the original theme is reflecting back on its beginnings.

Singer Regina Spektor, who wrote the original “You’ve Got Time” theme, released a new “chamber” version of the song to mark the show’s end.

The Russian-born songwriter worked with Rob Moose and members of the yMusic ensemble to create the updated rendition. Spektor commented saying the new version “now has a more hushed and eerie feeling to it.”

Back in 2013, Spektor was approached by the show’s creator to write the song after he obsessed with her music.

“I listened to Regina’s albums obsessively while writing the series, so I immediately thought of her for our theme song,” Jenji Kohan told Entertainment Weekly at the time.

“What a special world Jenji created and invited us all into,” Spektor said in a statement. “Over the years it was a privilege to see the Orange Family grow and expand and experiment. Making a new interpretation of the song felt like a fitting way to say goodbye.”

More on OITNB

A few years back, Against Me! brought along actor Natasha Lyonne to join one of their music videos. The band’s video for “333” depicts a ’60s couple navigating a push and pull relationship. In case you haven’t heard the song, check it out below.

Lyonne isn’t the only cast member with some attachment to punk though. Annie Golden fronted a punk band in the ’70s called the Shirts. They were CBGB regulars and even attracted some attention with their single, “Tell Me Your Plans.” Watch the group perform a separate song, “Teenage Crutch,” below.

That is of course on top of cast member Jessica Pimentel performing with Mexican death metal band Brujeria as well.
