The musician posted a recent video update thanking fans for their “concern” and added, “My thumb is fully recovered now. I am looking forward to seeing you all this New Year’s Eve at the Forum with Ozzfest. It’s gonna be great. Be there.”

Speaking to Rolling Stone about his time in the hospital, Ozzy recalled, “I didn’t feel sick, so I was cracking jokes. The doctor said, ‘I don’t know if you realize, Mr. Osbourne, this is a very serious problem you have.'”

After an examination, Ozzy’s doctors realized he didn’t have just one staph infection but three individual ones in his thumb. One had even spread to his middle finger.

“They cut all this stuff out. Even with the numbing stuff, it was agony,” Ozzy explained. “It wasn’t pus, but it was the stage after pus, when it gets in the blood and goes in your body and fucking kills you.”

“It may sound fucked up what I’m saying to you, but [the doctor] was really concerned about checking my blood.”

New Year’s Eve Ozzfest

Ozzfest has announced a New Year’s Eve spectacular in Los Angeles! Ring in 2019 with Ozzy Osbourne, Rob Zombie, Marilyn Manson, Korn frontman Jonathan Davis and Ice-T‘s Body Count at the special one-night-only concert. The singular concert spectacular is the first of its kind since Ozzfest’s 1996 debut.

In lieu of a multi-day ticket for this year’s fest, the annual event that celebrates hard rock and metal will descend on The Forum in L.A., Monday, Dec. 31. Tickets for the unique Ozzfest can be bought here. (VIP packages here.)

“I asked Sharon what we’re doing this New Year’s Eve and she said ‘WE’RE DOING FUCK ALL!” explains Ozzy in a press release. “So I thought, ‘We didn’t do Ozzfest in 2018, so let’s do a New Year’s Eve Ozzfest.”
