Ozzy Osbourne says he’s “a lot better" after initial Parkinson’s diagnosis

Ozzy Osbourne is in the midst of an incredible comeback. His first new album in over ten years Ordinary Man is set to release Feb. 21. He’s already dropped three singles “Under The Graveyard,” “Straight To Hell,” and “Ordinary Man” off it as well. Not to mention, he’s gearing up for a legendary run of dates with Marilyn Manson.

In sad news today, however, Ozzy Osbourne has revealed that he has been diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease, greatly affecting his nerves. Learn more below.

In an exclusive interview with Robin Roberts on Good Morning America, Ozzy and his wife Sharon Osbourne opened up about his recent health struggles and his diagnosis with Parkinson’s.

“It’s been terribly challenging for us all,” Osbourne told Roberts. “I did my last show New Year’s Eve at The Forum. Then I had a bad fall. I had to have surgery on my neck, which screwed all my nerves.”

“It’s PRKN 2,” Sharon says. “There’s so many different types of Parkinson’s; it’s not a death sentence by any stretch of the imagination, but it does affect certain nerves in your body. And it’s — it’s like you have a good day, a good day, and then a really bad day.”

Ozzy Osbourne postponed his world tour last year after a bad fall and a horrible bout with pneumonia. Ozzy rescheduled the tour late 2019 and has stated he’s been on the mend ever since.

“Coming from a working-class background, I hate to let people down. I hate to not do my job,” said Osbourne. “And so when I see my wife goin’ to work, my kids goin’ to work, everybody’s doing — tryin’ to be helpful to me, that gets me down because I can’t contribute to my family, you know.”

“But you know, put it this way — I’m a lot better now than I was last February. I was in a shocking state.”

Ozzy then answered to why he’s choosing now to come out about his battle with the disease after previously denying it.

“I’m no good with secrets,” Ozzy says. “I cannot walk around with it anymore ’cause it’s like I’m running out of excuses, you know?”

What seems to be Ozzy’s greatest fear is letting down his fans, after the tour postponement, he never wanted to lose their support.

“They’re my air, you know,” Osbourne says of his fans. “I feel better. I’ve owned up to the fact that I have – a case of Parkinson’s. And I just hope they hang on and they’re there for me because I need them. I wanna see my people, you know. It’s like I’m – I miss them so much.”

The release date of Ordinary Man is Feb. 21. The album can be preordered here. It features collaborations with Slash of Guns N’ RosesPost MaloneTom Morello of Rage Against The Machine and Elton John.
