Ozzy Osbourne sends terminal cancer patient and former drummer platinum records after feud

Following a feud that left Ozzy Osbourne’s former drummer Lee Kerslake bankrupt, Osbourne has had a change of heart. Kerslake, who is also a terminally ill cancer patient with an estimated eight months to live, reached out to the Osbourne family to ask if they could send him his own platinum copies of Blizzard of Ozz and Diary of a Madman, both of which he worked on.

“I’ve written to Sharon and Ozzy recently, a personal letter basically asking them to kindly send me platinum album certifications for Blizzard of Ozz and Diary of a Madman, to hang on my wall before I die,” Kerslake says in a story with Consequence of Sound. “It’s on my bucket list.”

Prior to Osbourne’s gesture, Kerslake never received the framed, platinum discs because of a lawsuit against Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne. Kerslake and bassist Bob Daisley sued the family over royalties concerning the aforementioned albums. However, they lost the case.

According to Consequence of Sound, the case pushed Osbourne to take Kerslake and Daisley’s names off of Diary of a Madman. Instead, Osbourne credited their replacements in the notes. However, in 2011, the albums were re-issued, properly crediting Kerslake and Daisley.

Despite the drama, Osbourne decided to put the past behind him. After Kerslake expressed interest on owning the two platinum records before he died, Osbourne sent him the two releases, complete with frames.

I’m so glad that Lee Kerslake is enjoying his Blizzard and Diary platinum albums,” Osbourne says in a tweet. “I hope you feel better. Love, Ozzy.”
