Ozzy suggests 'The Osbournes' couldn't exist alongside the Kardashians

Ozzy Osbourne, the Prince of Darkness and one-time reality TV star, posits his family’s classic MTV show against the modern media landscape in a new interview with Metal Hammer. And it has the Black Sabbath vocalist pondering a hypothetical resurrection of his clan’s hit The Osbournes in a post-Keeping Up With The Kardashians kingdom.

Such a comeback seems unlikely, however, per Ozzy. Especially considering the Iron Man’s qualms with constant filming. On top of that, Osbourne says the “world’s changed” when comparing his early-aughts series to the Kardashians’ domain.

“It got to the point where I was falling apart emotionally,” he says of his show in the piece ‘Why Ozzy hated doing The Osbournes,’. “[Y]ou can’t fucking relax. It doesn’t matter where you go for a piss, you’re paranoid there’s a camera in there. But I’m not ashamed of it and it’s a big hit. Would I do it again? It’s now Kardashianville. The world’s changed, man.”

And the Wizard of Ozz’s filming complaints seem to illustrate what many a reality star feel when under the constant scrutiny of the camera’s watchful eye. Still, Osbourne says you’d have to be a “Madman” to turn down that kind of payout.

“All I can say to you is this,” Ozzy offers. “[N]umber one, if someone offers you a shitload of dough to be on television, you’d have to be a mug to turn it down. … I thought it was gonna be a piece of cake, but you have a camera crew living in your house for three years and see how you feel at the end of it. You feel like a fucking laboratory rat.”

Earlier this week, Osbourne postponed four shows after contracting the flu. Last year, the rock icon called off some other gigs before cancelling an entire tour following a hand infection that forced Osbourne to undergo surgery.

But fear not, Ozzy fans, for the Great Ozz claims he actually isn’t retiring any time soon, even though his current European jaunt (and subsequent North American concerts) are being billed as the rockstar’s final comprehensive world tour.
