Hear Palaye Royale put an acoustic spin on this early Lil Peep track

Since Lil Peep‘s tragic death back in November 2017, many artists have been keeping his legacy alive in various ways. Recently, Post Malone shared which of his face tattoos was inspired by the late rapper. Machine Gun Kelly also recently released a freestyle that references Lil Peep and paid tribute. Now, Palaye Royale are taking their turn.

Today, the band have released a cover of Lil Peep’s “Waste Of Time” on YouTube. The band originally performed the cover during a recent livestream with Hot Topic earlier this month.

Following the sudden death of Lil Peep, his fans, friends and family are keeping his spirit alive. Recently, his posthumous documentary Everybody’s Everything was released and is now available to stream on Netflix. Along with the film, a 19-track album of the same name was also put out for fans to enjoy. His estate is continuing to put out unreleased music. Just last month, a four-track EP called Vertigo was put out on streaming services.

Now, Palaye Royale are using their platform to share their appreciation for the late rapper. During a social distancing livestream with Hot Topic, the band included “Waste Of Time” in their performance. The song was originally released on SoundCloud over four years ago. With Emerson Barrett on piano, Sebastian Danzig on guitar and Remington Leith on vocals, the stripped-down performance transforms the rap song into an acoustic ballad.

Palaye Royale have expressed their emotions over Lil Peep’s death on social media. Back in June 2019, Barrett shared an emotional tweet about the rapper.

“2 years ago today Peep released ‘Benz Truck’ ? miss his energy dearly @lilpeep,” Barrett tweets.

The cover of “Waste Of Time” is available to watch below.

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the members of Palaye Royale are few of many who have been social distancing during this time. Leith even took to Twitter last month to humorously tweet about how he is handling social distancing.

Despite setbacks including their forthcoming album’s artwork being leaked early and canceling the remaining dates of their March European tour, the band are still keeping busy. Palaye Royale have released two music videos for their new tracks “Lonely” and “Little Bastards” over the past two months.

Palaye Royale’s highly-anticipated new album The Bastards is arriving via Sumerian Records on May 29. Album pre-orders can be purchased here.
