Brendon Urie tells Trump campaign to stop using P!ATD songs at rallies

The Trump campaign has begun visiting cities across the U.S. as the presidential election draws near. On June 23, Donald Trump put on a rally in Phoenix. A particular moment during the event, however, is making Panic! At The Disco‘s Brendon Urie not so happy.

During the rally, Donald Trump Jr. walked onstage to “High Hopes.” Now, Urie is telling the Trump campaign to stop using Panic! At The Disco songs at their election rallies.

“High Hopes” has been used at political events in the past. Pete Buttigieg’s campaign often played the song during his events as he ran for the Democratic nomination last year.

Now, videos from Trump’s Phoenix rally have emerged and show Donald Trump Jr. walking onstage to the hit Panic! At The Disco song.

Shortly following this, Urie quickly took to social media to express his thoughts.

“Dear Trump Campaign,” Urie tweets. “Fuck you. You’re not invited. Stop playing my song. No thanks, Brendon Urie, Panic! At The Disco & company.”

Urie has been outspoken about his thoughts towards Trump over the past few years. In a past interview, he calls Trump a “fucking asshole” who is “encroaching on people’s rights.”

Following his first tweet, Urie further elaborates on how he really feels about Trump. He also takes the opportunity to encourage people to register to vote and help vote Trump out of office.

“Dear Everyone Else,” Urie says. “Donald Trump represents nothing we stand for. The highest hope we have is voting this monster out in November. Please do your part.”

The tweet then links to the organization HeadCount where individuals can register to vote, see information on upcoming elections and find volunteer opportunities.

Urie isn’t the only artist to object to the Trump campaign’s use of their music. Over the weekend, the family of Tom Petty spoke out after “I Won’t Back Down” was played at a recent rally stop.

Other artists including Rihanna, the Rolling Stones, Adele and Elton John are among those that have objected to Trump’s use of their music in the past. Some have even threatened legal action. Nickelback had their song “Photographremoved from a Joe Biden meme video that Trump shared on social media.

In 2019, Queen forced the removal of “We Will Rock You” from a video clip Trump tweeted. According to a rep, Queen’s music publisher had the song removed after it was used without prior authorization.
