Panic! At The Disco keep rock chart’s No. 1. spot for more than a year

Hey Look, Ma, Panic! At The Disco has held Billboard‘s Hot Rock Songs Chart for 62 consecutive weeks. This is an unheard-of achievement that just proves the immense following Brendon Urie has.

“High Hopes” has now held the number one spot for 52 straight weeks. The song hit number one on the chart in November of 2018. Since then, Panic! At The Disco hasn’t led that spot slip.

It’s almost unfathomable to think that one band, albeit, two songs have held the number one spot on a chart for well over a year. “High Hopes” was briefly bumped down to second on the Hot Rock Songs Chart by Panic! At The Disco’s “Hey Look Ma, I Made It.” It then reclaimed the spot and the two have been going steady ever since.

Overall, “High Hopes” has been on the chart for 86 weeks. Coincidentally, 86 weeks ago from today was May 22, 2018, and #WorldGothDay was trending on Twitter.

Both songs come from Panic! At The Disco’s most recent album Pray For The Wicked that dropped back in June of 2018 on Fueled By Ramen. It’s staggering to believe that an album released 18 months ago is still absolutely dominating popular rock music. It shows the unwavering talent and longevity of Urie’s trademark vocals and lyrics.

In case you forgot how incredible the song is, listen to “High Hopes” below and be reminded.

More Panic! At The Disco

Panic! At The Disco track “High Hopes” was used for an epic same-sex skate routine in the UK show Dancing On Ice.

Dancing On Ice is much like the USA’s Dancing With The Stars. Celebrities are matched with professionals of their respective art and learn how to do it. For DOI, instead of dancing on a normal dance floor, the contestants are ice skating.

During the premiere of the first episode of the program’s latest season, pro ice-skater Matt Evers and Welsh actor/singer Ian H. Watkins had their first routine together.

Dancing to Panic! At The Disco’s “High Hopes,” the duo became the first same-sex couple on the show to take the ice.

P!ATD’s Highest Hopes Foundation took to Twitter to celebrate the skaters’ wonderful milestone.

Congratulations to Evers and Watkins on this memorable moment!

“Highest Hopes Foundation was created to support the efforts of non-profit organizations that lead, develop, and advocate support for human rights,” Brendon Urie says on the Highest Hopes foundation website. “This is dedicated to all people + communities who are subject to discrimination or abuse on the basis of gender, race, religion, sexual orientation + gender identity.”
