Pete Davidson, MGK talk movie cast’s road trip to his EST Fest
Pete Davidson and Machine Gun Kelly are in the midst of promoting their upcoming film Big Time Adolescence. However, that’s not to say talk of music hasn’t crept into the conversation.
Back in November, it was revealed the coming-of-age drama was heading to the Sundance Film Festival.

Now in the midst of doing press at the festival, the duo joined fellow actors Griffin Gluck, Jon Cryer, Emily Arlook and writer/director Jason Orley to chat with the Los Angeles Times.
Orley talked about having the “perfect cast,” and Davidson touched on how the writer/director first brought the project up to him several years ago.
MGK expanded on the perfect cast sentiment as he explains, “Pete drove these dudes six hours down to my festival that I throw in the middle of the woods in Ohio in the middle of the night.”
The festival was the fifth annual EST Fest, which was held Aug. 3-4, 2018 at Ohio Dreams in Butler, Ohio.
The cast was filming in Syracuse, New York where MGK also recruited Davidson for his “LOCO” video. The rapper dropped it ahead of the festival’s kick-off and debuted the then new track during his headlining set.
Arlock added that the cast “raced back to get back to shooting,” with Gluck mentioning they drove eight hours down and then immediately headed back to set.
“He crowdsurfed for the first time on 10,000 people,” MGK says of Gluck. “It was wild man. It was wild.”
At the time, Gluck, who is now 18, had to ask his mom and the director’s permission, the latter of which was left to Davidson.
“He literally came to me halfway through shooting and was like, ‘Can I take the boys to Cleveland for a rock show?’” Orley explains. “And I was like, ‘What? I’m not their mom.’ And Griffin was like, ‘Please Jason, can we go?’”
“[I] was like, ‘I don’t know, can you have them back?’ And he was like, ‘I promise they’ll be back on set on time, and I’ll take care of them.’”
Davidson and the crew made it to EST Fest in time, with the actor/comedian joining MGK onstage during his set for their own rendition of SpongeBob’s “FUN” song.
Orley also touched on harnessing “that spark they have off camera” for the film.
“This is hard to recreate. I don’t want them to be faking this, and they don’t want to be fake funny or fake cool.”
“I wouldn’t say we’re difficult actors at all,” MGK added. “I think we’re all just really good friends, and yeah, this is work. But at the end of the day, we’re all just happy to see each other.”

Big Time Adolescence at Sundance
Not much is known about the film itself yet. The short and sweet synopsis reads:
“A suburban teenager (Gluck) comes of age under the destructive guidance of his best friend, a charismatic college dropout (Davidson).”
At the time of the Sundance announcement, Davidson, who previously deleted all of his Instagram posts, broke his social media silence to share the exciting news. MGK later took to his own Instagram where he shared the same set of photos as Davidson.
“How did these fuck ups just make it into Sundance film festival ???????????????? see y’all in Utah 2019 #BigTimeAdolescence.”
Sundance hits Park City, Utah from Jan. 24 to Feb. 3. According to Davidson’s original post, Big Time Adolescence aired Jan. 28 at 3:30 p.m.
A release date for the film hasn’t been set, and a trailer is still pending, but we definitely can’t wait to see more.
