The 12-episode show follows 21-year-old college student Frances (Alison Oliver), who “navigates a series of relationships that force her to confront her own vulnerabilities for the first time.”

According to a press release, Bridgers is a longtime fan of Rooney’s work. “Sidelines” was written by Bridgers, her bandmate Marshall Vore and Rain Henley. It’s also the first original song from Bridgers this year.

Leanne Welham and Lenny Abrahamson directed the series, while Alice Birch served as a writer. When BBC announced the adaptation in 2020, Rooney said, “I’m confident we’re going to find fresh and interesting ways of dramatizing the novel’s dynamics, and I’m excited to watch the process take shape‎.”

Conversations With Friends arrives May 15 on Hulu. Check out the trailer below.
