'Playboy' to no longer feature complete nudity

In an attempt to rejuvenate their content, Playboy magazine will no longer feature pictures of fully naked women.

In September, Playboy editor Cory Jones pitched the concept to founder Hugh Hefner, who agreed. Beginning in March, 2016, the company’s print avenue will feature women in provocative poses, but they will no longer be entirely unclothed.

“That battle has been fought and won,” said chief executive Scott Flanders. “You’re now one click away from every sex act imaginable for free. And so it’s just passé at this juncture.”

As The New York Times reports, Playboy’s print edition has dropped from 5.6 million in 1975 to roughly 800,000 in 2015.

Jones claimed that content will be more PG-13-related; “A little more accessible, a little more intimate,” he said. It’s worth noting, however, that this change is strictly print-centered.

Mr. Jones later added, “Don’t get me wrong, 12-year-old me is very disappointed in current me. But it’s the right thing to do.”
