Pokémon Adidas collab gets retro with 8-bit Pikachu

Pokémon and Adidas are apparently teaming up. The collaboration has no release date yet but the first images of the Pikachu Adidas Advantage are here.

The shoe is rather plain but looks clean and classic. Earlier in the year, leaked images showed more elaborate Pikachu and Squirtle shoes, but no additional information on those has been released yet either.  Check it out below.

Adidas has already entered the anime collaboration market with its Dragon Ball Z-themed kicks a few years ago. Now, with Pokémon being supremely popular again, this move makes sense.

As stated, earlier in the year, some other Pokémon-themed shoes were leaked that feature more art than the current images. Check them out below.

Fans seemed to be a bit irritated with how loud the shoes were and that they couldn’t be worn ina traditional setting for adults. Well, these shoes were never released so maybe Adidas heard the critics.

Now, more official-looking Adidas x Pokémon collab shots are hitting the internet and they seem to be much more minimalistic.

The shoes are the three-stripe Advantage. Plain white with the only embellishments in plain sight being the 8-bit Pikachu and the Pokémon logo on the tongue. Aside from that, the inner lining features a bunch of 8-bit generation one characters, just like you’d see on your good old GameBoy color. We can hopefully expect some other Pokémon starter collabs as well. It wouldn’t be a Pokémon line without Charmander, Bulbasaur or Squirtle.

A release date for these shoes is unknown. We can expect the shoes to be sooner rather than later because these look like official Adidas press images.
