Ash Ketchum will have two new best friends in new Pokémon movie
With the release of Pokémon the Movie 20: I Choose You!, fans found out that the film's retelling of the first season of the Pokémon animated series is missing two major characters in Brock and and Misty.

It's hard to believe that the Pokémon animated series began 20 years ago on April 1, 1997, but to celebrate the twenty-year anniversary of the animated series, Pokémon the Movie 20: I Choose You! is a retelling of the very first season of the Pokémon animated series Pokémon: Indigo League.
In fact, the “I Choose You!” portion of the title is a reference to the very first episode of Pokémon: Indigo League which featured the title, “Pokémon! I Choose You!”
The film premiered in Paris, France at the Japan Expo on July 6 to which fans immediately noticed that two main characters were replaced. Anyone who's ever watched any episode of Pokémon: Indigo League knows that Ash traveled with his two best friends, Misty and Brock, but Pokémon the Movie 20: I Choose You! will feature new best friends in the form of Souji and Makoto.
In fact, Brock and Misty are only featured in the credits in a non-speaking role. However, Jessie, James and Meowth from Team Rocket are featured in the film along with Nurse Joy and Professor Oak.
Pokémon the Movie 20: I Choose You! will premiere in Japan on July 15, but there's currently no release date planned for the United States.
