We are only two days into October, but many of us already have Christmas on our minds including Poppy.

The genre-bending artist confirmed this week that she plans to release a Christmas EP this year.

2020 has already been a big year for Poppy. She kicked off the year with her explosive new album I Disagree which features “Sit/Stay,” “Anything Like Me” and the empowering title track “I Disagree.”

Then, in August, she treated fans to even more new music with I Disagree (more). The extended album features four brand new songs including the chaotic single “Khaos x4.”

Now, it looks like Poppy is planning to try something new for the holiday season. On Friday, she revealed her plans to release a Christmas EP later this year.

Although no specific details about the holiday release have been shared, listeners could hear her cross-genre sound on the new EP. Earlier this year, Poppy shared that she often doesn’t have a genre in mind when creating music. Instead, just like with I Disagree, she throws the rules out the window and leaves the genre identifying to listeners.

“I’m leaving it for the listener to decide what genre it is,” she said. “[When] we went into the process of making the album [I Disagree], we just wanted ultimate freedom and no rules.”

Along with creating music of her own, Poppy just directed her fiance Ghostemane‘s new video for “Lazaretto.” The new single is off of Ghostemane’s highly-anticipated forthcoming LP ANTI-ICON which arrives on Oct. 21.

Back in July, Poppy and Ghostemane confirmed they are engaged. They took to social media to share the news and show off Poppy’s unique engagement ring.

Following Poppy’s EP news this week, fans have hardly been able to contain their excitement on social media over this Christmas miracle.
