Post Malone reveals every face tattoo actually has a meaning

Post Malone has received a lot of criticism over his face tattoos in recent months as he continues to add to his collection. The rapper recently opened up about the reason he has so many, and now he’s shed some light on their significance as well through Spenser Confidential co-star Mark Wahlberg.

Wahlberg headed to The Late Late Show With James Corden Monday where he joined co-star and comedian Iliza Shlesinger to talk about their upcoming Netflix film. Just like KISS frontman Paul Stanley sounded off about the ink placement last month (before backtracking and complimenting the rapper), Wahlberg has revealed his stance on tattoos and what he told the rapper.

Corden asks Wahlberg about his tattoos, which he reveals were removed from his neck, stomach, back and leg. When questioned about the decision to do so, the actor credits it to “maturity” and “sensibility.”

From there, the host asks if he talked to Posty about his ink on set. “Yes, I have, and you know what, he has now since added more to his face.”

Previously titled Wonderland, the Netflix film began filming in Boston in the fall of 2018. Just ahead of the film’s first trailer in January, Posty debuted a giant gauntlet with a flail on along his jawline. Since then, he’s inked a bloody buzzsaw and a hammer.

Wahlberg continues by explaining he was trying to get removed them before his 2010 film The Fighter. However, it took him five years to get all of his tattoos successfully removed, which was “dreadfully painful” and even more so than getting them in the first place. “It’s like hot bacon grease getting flicked on you over and over again,” he describes. “Hopefully they’ll develop the technology more and more.”

“I told Posty, that’s gonna be a lot of Bud Lights try to get those things off there,” Wahlberg continues.

Corden asked what the rapper’s response was, and the actor reveals, “He says what every kid says, what I said when I got my tattoos, ‘Oh no, no, no, they all have meaning. I’m going to keep them forever.’ But then you realize, well no, I’m now pushing 40, I gotta do something about this.”

More on Post Malone in Spenser Confidential

For his first acting role, Post will be acting alongside Mark Wahlberg and Winston Duke (Black Panther, Jordan Peele’s Us). Directed by Peter Berg, the movie is based on Robert B. Parker’s novel Wonderland and follows an action-packed comedy about an ex-cop determined to get justice for two old friends.

“Spenser (Wahlberg) — an ex-cop better known for making trouble than solving it — just got out of prison and is leaving Boston for good,” the film’s synopsis reads. “But first he gets roped into helping his old boxing coach and mentor, Henry (Alan Arkin), with a promising amateur. That’s Hawk (Winston Duke), a brash, no-nonsense MMA fighter convinced he’ll be a tougher opponent than Spenser ever was.”

“When two of Spenser’s former colleagues turn up murdered, he recruits Hawk and his foul-mouthed ex-girlfriend, Cissy (Iliza Shlesinger), to help him investigate and bring the culprits to justice.”
