The new track is about, as the name suggests, a robot who writes a love song for his recently-deceased robot partner. His system is overwhelmed by human emotions. The song was written in 15 minutes, with the vocals recorded in the back seat of Stefan Babcock‘s car. Check out the music video for the track below.

THE UNRAVELING OF PUPTHEBAND was recorded and mixed over the course of five weeks in Grammy Award-winning producer Peter Katis’ bat-filled mansion. They incorporated piano, synths and horns, all for the first time.

“As the weeks passed, we seemed less and less rational, objective and sane,” Babcock says in a press release. “You can hear the band start to fall off the cliff, and because of that, I think this record is our truest and most genuine to date. There is nothing more PUP than a slow and inevitable descent into self-destruction.”
