Pussy Riot release Nadya Tolokonnikova's 'Drink My Blood' NFT

Pussy Riot are releasing an exclusive NFT titled Drink My Blood. The project was developed with social token community Friends With Benefits (FWB).

The art piece will consist of a prison freedom certificate stained with the artist’s blood, bottled blood of the artist and a digitized version of prison freedom certificate with unreleased Pussy Riot track “Anthem.”

For founding Pussy Riot member Nadya Tolokonnikova, this art piece is especially meaningful. Drink My Blood is created using the freedom paper she received following her release from prison in 2013. The artwork draws on real events, symbolizing when Pussy Riot served their time, requiring Tolokonnikova to work in poor conditions.

“I spilled some blood on the freedom certificate I was given upon release on xmas eve of 2013, after spending two years behind bars,” she says. “I was injured multiple times as the result of being conditioned to slave labor while serving my time in a camp [and] forced to sew police uniforms.”

Tolokonnikova continues, “I wanted to make this freedom certificate to reflect the pain every prisoner goes through. The collector quite literally will be sent a physical bottle of my blood and an NFT.”

In addition, each bidder will receive a digital representation of the artist’s blood in the form of an NFT. All digitalization is performed by Berlin-based artist Ksti Hu.

The auction for the NFT will be available via the FWB gallery here.
