Radiohead event in Istanbul attacked

A listening party for Radiohead’s A Moon Shaped Pool in Istanbul, Turkey was attacked Friday night by a group of men who were reportedly angry that some attendees were drinking alcohol during Ramadan.  

While things did turn violent, no fatal injuries have been reported as of this article’s posting. Radiohead have issued a statement, which you can read in full below.

The event was part of a worldwide streaming party that the band launched in support of A Moon Shaped Pool. Open gatherings were hosted at record stores around across the globe today.

“Our hearts go out to those attacked tonight at Velvet IndieGround in Istanbul. We hope that someday we will be able to look back on such acts of violent intolerance as things of the ancient past. For now, we can only offer our fans in Istanbul our love and support.”
