Rage Against The Machine bassist on Limp Bizkit: "I feel bad that we inspired such bullsh*t"

Rage Against The Machine bassist Tim Commerford apologizes for Limp Bizkit, everyone. Is he to blame? Probably not, but Fred Durst is very open about his love for RATM and the band's influence on him and the music of Limp Bizkit, so Commerford feels at least somewhat responsible. “I do apologize for Limp Bizkit,” Commerford says to Rolling Stone. “I really do. I feel really bad that we inspired such bullshit.”

Possibly unaware of the fact that Limp Bizkit still exists, Commerford adds, “They're gone, though. That's the beautiful thing. There's only one left, and that's Rage, and as far as I'm concerned, we're the only one that matters.”

Some might remember back to 2000 when Commerford crashed the stage (almost literally) at the MTV Video Music Awards as Limp Bizkit accepted the award for Best Rock Video, with their single, “Break Stuff,” winning over Rage Against the Machine's “Sleep Now in the Fire.” You can watch an old MTV clip of the incident below. Commerford was arrested for the stunt but the only thing he regrets is not completing his mission. “I wish I would've swung on that thing and brought it to the ground and just destroyed it,” he says. “If I could do it all over again, I would've ripped that thing to the ground and shredded it.”
