Record warehouse set ablaze during London riots

A Sony-DADC warehouse containing albums distributed by PIAS [UK]–including releases on indie labels such as Victory, SideOneDummy and Vagrant–has been destroyed by fire during the London riots. Slicing Up Eyeballs has a link to a Drowned In Sound message board posting which details what labels appear to have lost stock in the blaze; additionally, Pias–which distributes all of the largest U.K. indie labels–has issued a statement

“There was a fire last night at the SonyDADC warehouse which services the physical distribution for PIAS in the UK and Ireland. PIAS is working closely with SonyDADC who are implementing their emergency plans. PIAS's UK offices in London and all other areas of our business are unaffected. More information will be communicated shortly to all our labels and partners”

If they can, fans are being encouraged to buy digital music released by the affected labels via U.K. digital music retailers, to help them start to regain their financial footing.
