‘Rick and Morty’ Pringles collab to launch Pickle Rick-themed chips

With Rick and Morty season four in full swing now, smart marketing says to get in on the hype. Well, Adult Swim and Pringles are doing just that. Throwing it back to the smash-hit cultural zeitgeist that was Pickle Rick of last season, the two companies have combined to create a limited edition Pringle.
The exclusive Pickle Rick crisps will roll out in early February. Pringles also snagged a 30-second ad for the Super Bowl where we can only hope to see Pickle Rick transform into Pringle Rick. We can assume that is when the chips will probably sell out everywhere.
With its rabid cult following, Rick and Morty doesn’t even have to partner with big companies to stir up something fun. Take a look at the Szechuan Sauce event with McDonald’s. Fans were clamoring for the sauce before Rick and Morty ever considered partnering with McDonald’s for the event. It also was a major fiasco that sold out quicker than the My Chemical Romance reunion. Well, maybe not that fast.
The company states it will be a special edition, collectible Pickle Rick flavor inspired by the award-winning series. Pringles already have a regular pickle-flavored crisp so it does make us wonder if they’re going to recycle that or create an entirely new flavor. “We want to do something completely new for the brand for the 2020 Big Game (Super Bowl) and are thrilled to be partnering with Adult Swim and Rick and Morty, a show which continues to grow in popularity year after year and enjoys a cult fan following,” said Gareth Maguire, senior director of marketing for Pringles. “We hope the new special edition Pickle Rick flavor will be a hit with the show’s fans.”
It seems this is a match made in heaven as Adult Swim agrees with the sentiments expressed by Pringles.
“We’re very thoughtful about who we partner with around Rick and Morty and we couldn’t be more pleased with our new relationship with Pringles,” said Jill King, senior vice president, marketing and partnerships, Adult Swim.
“Not only are the Rick and Morty show creators making a hilarious spot for the Big Game, we’re extending this partnership in really exciting ways, all year long. Rick and Morty fans are going to be given amazing new opportunities to illustrate their love for this iconic show, thanks to Pringles.”
