These ‘Riverdale,’ ‘13 Reasons Why’ characters like the same band

Riverdale and 13 Reasons Why might have more in common than simply being shows about teenage drama.

The Netflix Instagram account has pointed out that in both shows, two characters on the shows share similar tastes in music.

Ok, I can’t be the only person that pauses shows to look around a character’s bedroom. Swipe through to see why it looks like Archie and Alex have a similar taste in music!” the caption reads.

Both Alex and Archie have posters in their room for Toronto-based punk band Touch Age. According to CBC, many of the posters in Archie’s room on Riverdale are of Canadian bands. Many of the bands are on Mint Records label, which is based in Vancouver where the show is shot.

As for 13 Reasons Why, Dylan Minnette, who plays Clay on the show, picks many of the songs featured on the soundtrack and in the posters, according to Cosmopolitan.

“Clay’s room is filled with posters of my favourite bands. There are other artists that I would love to have in there, but they aren’t artists that I feel Clay would listen to. You’ll see there are a couple Arcade Fire posters, Bon Iver, The Cure, The Shins, and some other cool things. I wanted to make sure it all felt very real, and I wanted the vibe to be appropriate.”

We can’t say we’ve ever noticed the similarity before, but now that it’s been pointed out, we’ll have to keep our eyes peeled. We also love that some of our favorite characters have such kickass taste in music.

This is not the first time the two shows had some sort of crossover. It was revealed that Katherine Langford, who plays Hannah Baker in 13 Reasons Why, auditioned for the part of Betty in Riverdale.
