‘Riverdale’ fans remember Luke Perry as final scene airs

On last evening’s episode, Riverdale aired their final scene with Fred Andrews, who was played by Luke Perry. As previously reported, Perry passed away unexpectedly after suffering a major stroke back in February.

Earlier this week, show creator, Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa announced that Perry’s final scene would be coming on Wednesday night.

“This week’s #Riverdale is the last episode Luke filmed,” Aguirre-Sacasa says in a tweet. “As always, Fred’s imparting words of wisdom to Archie. A beautiful, true moment between a father and his son. Wish these scenes could go on forever…”

Now, the episode titled “Chapter 54: Fear the Reaper,” has officially aired on the CW. The scene in question features Archie, played by KJ Apa, having a heart-to-heart with his father about the death of his boxing partner, Randy.

You can check out the final dialogue exchanged between the two characters below.

“Son, from everything you’ve said, it’s clear Randy died from those drugs,” Fred says. “The autopsy will support that. You’re innocent.”
“But I’m not, Dad,” Archie says. “I knew. I knew Randy was juicing. I could’ve stopped the fight, but I didn’t want to forfeit. If I had.. I’m never stepping into that ring ever again. I can’t.”

Now, fans are very understandably broken up about the characters’ final interaction. You can see what fans have to say below.

We are sending Perry’s family, as well as the entire cast of Riverdale, our well-wishes at this time.
