'Back To The Future' creator talks ever making another movie, following study

If there’s one thing for certain, it’s that the Michael J. Fox-led trilogy, Back To The Future, has a special place in many movie lover’s hearts.

While it’s been quite some time since the film has been on the big screen, that doesn’t mean people haven’t continued watching the beloved trilogy. Even more so, that doesn’t mean people haven’t wondered if these characters would ever come back.

In fact, you may recall, Back To The Future recently made headlines after a study found that people really want to see more adventures from Marty and Doc…and, we mean, we can’t really blame them.

The poll came from the Hollywood Reporter/Morning Consult, where they found that the Robert Zemeckis’ fan-favorite trilogy topped the list as the one film series that fans would like to see the return of.

2,201 adults were surveyed for the poll, and during this time, they found that over half of its participants (71 percent) said that they would like to see Back To The Future come back for a fourth movie.

With the last Back To The Future movie (BTTF 3) released in 1990, and the latest reboot craze, the notion of someone making another instalment of the franchise isn’t the craziest idea…but incredibly unlikely.

As most fans of BTTF might know, the film’s creator, Robert Zemeckis, has been publically against the whole idea of adding another movie to the series.

While we can’t blame him (it would be hard to top the success of the first three,) a lot of people couldn’t help but wonder, with the recent poll, did Zemeckis changed his mind about creating another one?

Unfortunately…it doesn’t seem like it.

Zemeckis recently sat with Yahoo to discuss his new film Welcome to Marwen. While the interview was mainly focused on the new film, the question of whether or not he’s still against making another BTTF came up.

“Oh god yes,” Zemeckis said when asked if he was still against the making of a fourth film.

He continued on by saying:

“I think what the poll is saying… they asked a specific question, so I guess they felt it was important to spend money to poll the world, and ask this question, but don’t you think we could all have just given them the same answer. It confirms what we all know, but what I think the fans are really saying is that we really like this movie and if it were possible I’d like more of it. But they understand that it can’t be done.”

This sentiment has echoed what Zemeckis shared in the past, in fact, a few months back Zemeckis shared a similar thought, where he said (via ScreenRant) that “there will not be any more Back To The Future [movies.]”

While we may not ever get to see another adventure of Doc and Marty, that doesn’t mean we can’t binge-watch the trilogy all over again.
