Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame plans to expand for more exhibits, events
The famous Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame has plans to massively expand its attraction in Cleveland. The museum’s land lease was unanimously approved by the city’s planning commission at their April 5 meeting. However, the museum’s request will still have to go through Council later this month before it the project is fully ready to go.
If all things go as planned, the museum will soon use an extra 50,000 square feet and link directly to the Great Lakes Science Center via a glass-enclosed connection, according to Cleveland.com.

“We are excited that this will ultimately form a museum campus by connecting with our neighbor so people can move completely indoors between the two museums,” Rock Hall president and CEO Greg Harris says.
Prior to the new idea, developer Rick Pace was planning on building a massive 10-story hotel between the two Cleveland attractions. However, the current plan will instead allot for more space to renovate and expand the museum for more exhibits, object conservation and events.
Additionally, the new plans will make Cleveland sight-seers very pleased, as they will not block the gorgeous views from Lake Erie to the city, and vice versa.
Improvements to the attraction, such as renovating the main exhibit on the history of rock music, are already in the works according to Cleveland.com.
The huge undertaking is set to begin sometime in 2020, given Council approval. Harris has yet to reveal how much the expansion will cost. However, the museum’s lease will extend to 2042.
“It’s incredibly exciting and an honor to be associated with the project,” Harris says. “We’re doing things at the museum that they dreamed about 20 years ago.’’

This year, one of dates for the 25th anniversary run of Vans Warped Tour will make a stop in Cleveland.
Cleveland’s date will have one stage for a one-day event outside of the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame. There will also be a mini skate ramp and a special exhibit titled “Forever Warped: 25 Years of Vans Warped Tour.”
The exhibit will begin the same day as the event, June 8. It will contain documents and history from its 1995 inception to its final cross-country run in 2018. There will be instruments from Fall Out Boy, No Doubt, Rancid and Reel Big Fish as well as stage clothing from Joan Jett and Ice-T.
