Back in November, it was reported that Star Wars fans were in for a real treat when everyone’s favorite rebel captain in Rogue One: A Star War’s Story would be coming back for his own spin-off series.

As it was announced by Disney Chairman and CEO Bob Iger, the company would be making a live-action Star Wars TV show that would be focused on Cassian Andor.

Details of the upcoming TV series have been kept pretty quiet, but that doesn’t mean snippets of information haven’t been given out, like today’s round of news.

A release date for the upcoming TV show surrounding Andor has yet to be revealed, but it appears that Production Weekly at least confirmed that the series is expected to begin its production in October of this year.

With the production date of the forthcoming Star Wars series beginning production so late in the year, it’s likely that the series will make its way to the small screen in 2020.

Further information on the upcoming series:

The new series will be dropped on Disney’s new streaming service, Disney+, and will follow Rogue One‘s Cassian Andor. Following that, it was also revealed that Diego Luna (who played Andor in the film) is reprising his role for the show.

“Going back to the Star Wars universe is very special for me,” Luna said in a statement. “I have so many memories of the great work we did together and the relationships I made throughout the journey. We have a fantastic adventure ahead of us, and this new exciting format will give us the chance to explore this character more deeply.”

A statement from Star Wars described the new series, saying that it will “explore tales filled with espionage and daring missions to restore hope to a galaxy in the grip of a ruthless Empire.”

The news of this Cassian Andor spinoff series follows the already-announced show The Mandalorian, which is the Star Wars’ live-action TV series that’s coming from director Jon Favreau.
