Ruby Rose arrives as Batwoman in “Elseworlds” teaser trailer

This summer, it was announced that Ruby Rose (Orange Is The New Black, John Wick: Chapter 2) would be suiting up as Batwoman for the CW’s shared universe Arrowverse.

Rose will appear as Kate Kane (aka Batwoman) in The Flash, Arrow and Supergirl crossover event titled “Elseworlds.” Rose will also of course be starring in upcoming Batwoman. Now, we’re getting a first look at Batwoman in action.

Back in October, we got the first image of Rose donning the suit. The move came after Rose, who identifies as genderfluid, quit Twitter in August following backlash from the announcement that she would play the Batman heiress and crime fighter, who’s written as being lesbian in modern DC comic books. It marks the first time an openly gay superhero would lead a series, as reported by BuzzFeed News.

The Arrowverse’s three-night event “Elseworlds” airs this December, and a new teaser trailer focuses on Rose’s Batwoman.

EW recently detailed the clip, stating:

This year’s crossover includes The Flash, Arrow, and Supergirl. Rose will make her debut as Kate Kane’s masked alter-ego in the middle Arrow hour, which sees Oliver (Stephen Amell), Barry (Gustin), and Kara (Melissa Benoist) travel to Gotham City to track down Arkham Asylum doc John Deegan (Lost‘s Jeremy Davies).

In the scene depicted [below]—which EW was on set to watch—Batwoman uses her grapple hook and Batarang to stop two inmates from escaping Arkham Asylum, and saves Green Arrow and Cisco in the process.”

Check out the new teaser below.

The Flash airs Dec. 9, Arrow airs Dec. 10 and Supergirl airs Dec. 11. Batwoman airs on an unannounced date in 2019.
