Sad Summer Festival has decided to postpone this year’s tour until 2021
Due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, various shows and tours worldwide have been canceled. Since the pandemic began, Sad Summer Festival has made frequent updates about its upcoming run with All Time Low, The Story So Far, the Maine and more. Set to kick off in July, Sad Summer said at the end of last month that the tour was still scheduled to go on as planned.
However, in a statement released today, May 6, the festival announces it is being postponed until 2021.

Back in March, Sad Summer Festival released its first statement regarding COVID-19. Stating that the tour was still scheduled, the statement acknowledged the fluidity of the coronavirus pandemic. In their April statement, they reassured fans that the festival was still scheduled to go on as planned. However, they were monitoring the coronavirus developments each day.
Today, it has been announced that due to the seriousness of coronavirus, Sad Summer Festival is not taking place this year. Instead, plans are being made for its return in 2021.
“It became clear over recent weeks that we needed to seriously consider whether the festival should continue as planned,” the statement says. “Now we must make the necessary decision to postpone Sad Summer Festival until summer 2021.”
The decision to postpone the 2020 festival is in efforts to keep everyone involved with the festival safe during this difficult time.
“On an emotional level, this is very difficult for us, as we have invested our heart and soul into Sad Summer,” the statement says. “However, the safety of even a single fan is not something we are willing to risk.”

On the positive side, it is confirmed that all of the bands will be returning for the 2021 run. This includes All Time Low, The Story So Far, the Maine, Movements, Yours Truly, Grayscale and Destroy Boys.
“The good news is that we now have a full year to invest every ounce of passion we have into making Sad Summer as special as possible,” the statement says. “We need it as much as you do. We are incredibly happy to announce that the full lineup from this year’s festival will be back, top to bottom. All we ask of the fans is to keep your faith.”
Along with this, the festival hopes to announce the rescheduled dates for 2021 in the next few weeks. All tickets already purchased will be honored for next year and any other questions can be addressed on the FAQ page. The statement also reveals that 2020 ticket holders will be receiving “perks” and “benefits” for their loyalty.
“For those with tickets, we will be offering a lot of perks and benefits to thank you for your loyalty,” the statement says. “Until then, there is a faq on our site to address all the questions we could think of.”

Sad Summer started with just a few people, working together, spending countless hours to create something special that goes beyond the normal concert experience. We truly are a small family. However, the reality of putting on a traveling festival requires a much bigger network of people, all working in harmony. In each city, we have venue partners, promoters, ticketing companies, staging and crew, security, medical teams, and more involved in putting on the show. Beyond those who are working, there is also an army of fans who support SSF simply by attending the show and making a memory. The weight of this decision and all those who are affected goes beyond words. We truly thank you all for your patience while we navigated this unprecedented situation.
