Musicians react to same-sex marriage ruling

Today, June 26, the Supreme Court of the United States ruled same-sex marriage legal nationwide. Before this, same-sex marriages were only allowed in 37 states, along with Washington, D.C.

“No union is more profound than marriage, for it embodies the highest ideals of love, fidelity, devotion, sacrifice, and family,” writes Justice Anthony Kennedy, who joined the court's liberals in the majority opinion (via Vox). “[The challengers] ask for equal dignity in the eyes of the law. The Constitution grants them that right.”

Having so much fun on this year's @vanswarpedtour so far! Thank you to everyone who has come out and watched our sets! It's been a pleasure playing our songs for you and we cannot wait for the rest of the summer on another note I wanted to share my happiness for the not only the LGBT community but every forward thinking and positive person in the United States on this historic day. It's great to know that the current generation of Americans are making such HUGE steps for acceptance and understanding. While this is obviously a monumental win for our LGBT brothers and sisters, I'd like to think that this is also a win for all of us who believe that people should be granted the right to be who they are and love who they love. Keep rockin' and break down the walls of hatred around the world! #lovewins
