This 'SNL' debate over Weezer's music is all of us

Last night, Saturday Night Live did an entire sketch dedicated to Weezer! The amazing skit was basically just all of us arguing over our favorite band, and we love it.

The discussion began at a neighbor’s dinner party when Weezer’s cover of Toto’s “Africa” started playing. Weezer super-fan Matt Damon then jumped into a passionate debate with Leslie Jones, a former fan who lost interest after Pinkerton.

“So you’re a Weezer fan?” Jones asked, to which her husband Kenan Thompson whispers, “Baby, please. It’s Christmas,” urging her not to start.

Sound familiar? Maybe just a little…

“Where have you been…I mean they just set a release date for the freakin’ Black Album,” Damon replies, to which Jones responds, “I’m just a little confused because real Weezer fans know they haven’t released a good album since Pinkerton in ’96.”

Damon refuses to back down: “Well that’s your opinion, but for me, I’m ride or die.”

The conversation continues, and gets pretty heated. We all know how it goes. Damon even throws out a “no you didn’t”, commenting that “Pork And Beans” is better than “Buddy Holly.”

“You just don’t understand what Rivers is going through right now,” Damon says, rounding out his argument. “I understand Rivers better than he understands himself!” Jones replies.

We’re only laughing harder because we know it’s so true.
