Alvin Schwartz' macabre children's collection Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark will be coming to the big screen, courtesy of renowned horror and action director Guillermo del Toro (Crimson Peak, Pan's Labyrinth). Del Toro announced via Twitter that he will be developing a film adaptation of the book, which CBS Films recently purchased the rights to in 2013.
Del Toro aims to recreate the film sticking to the themes of the original artwork by Stephen Gammeli, which he describes as “scary as fuck“. While his specific role is not yet public, it is confirmed that del Toro will at least be a producer for the film.
