Scientist who helped discover water on Mars played in a death metal band

Nepalese-American grad student Lujendra “Luju” Ojha played a fairly significant role in the recent discovery of liquid water on the surface of Mars. To be succinct, he aided in uncovering recurring slope lineae, which are lines of flowing salt water.

While you may know Ojha for his landmark discovery, what you may not know is that he formerly play guitar in a death metal band, (via MetalSucks). “That was an old life,” he admitted in an interview with CNET. “I was kind of in poverty with music. I wasn't making enough money so I said screw music, let's go to science, maybe there's more money in it. But there isn't money in science either.” It wasn't revealed what the name of Ojha's former band were called.
