See what’s in store for the Warrens in this first look at ‘The Conjuring 3’

It feels like we’ve been waiting for ages for the release of The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It.

Now, fans are finally getting a sneak peek at the highly-anticipated film that is due out on June 4, 2021.

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, The Conjuring 3‘s theatrical release has faced various delays. Now, Warner Bros. has confirmed that the new film is anticipated to arrive on June 4 of next year.

For The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It, Ed (Patrick Wilson) and Lorraine Warren (Vera Farmiga) are leaving haunted houses behind for something much bigger – the courtroom. The upcoming movie is based on one of the most prolific court cases in U.S. history.

“The Devil Made Me Do It reveals a chilling story of terror, murder and unknown evil that shocked even experienced real-life paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren,” the film’s synopsis says. “One of the most sensational cases from their files, it starts with a fight for the soul of a young boy, then takes them beyond anything they’d ever seen before, to mark the first time in U.S. history that a murder suspect would claim demonic possession as a defense.”

James Wan passed the torch for The Conjuring 3. The highly-awaited new film is directed by Michael Chaves while Wan stepped in as a producer alongside Peter Safran. In a new mini-documentary, Wan offers an exclusive look at The Devil Made Me Do It. He also details why this new film is a departure from The Conjuring universe fans are familiar with.

“I really wanted Conjuring 3 to get away from the haunted house setup of the first two films,” Wan says. “It should be on a whole different level. Something that we’ve never explored before in the Conjuring world.”

The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It is the latest film within The Conjuring Universe. Currently, the franchise is the largest in horror movie history and has grossed more than $1.8 billion worldwide. Along with the upcoming The Conjuring 3, the franchise also includes the Annabelle films and The Nun series.

Alongside Wilson and Farmiga, Ruairi O’ConnorSarah Catherine Hook and Julian Hilliard help round out the cast of The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It.

The Conjuring mini-documentary takes viewers through the making of each film witin the franchise. The exclusive look at The Conjuring 3 begins at around the 29:40 mark.
